Handpicked Hotels Retain DofE Adventure Challenge Title

On their way to victory in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, Handpicked Hotels beat off competition from over 100 participants in teams from British Gas, Stopgap, XLN Telecoms, Amey, DFS and Vinci.

The Peak Pursuits run event has raised in excess of £30,000 for The Duke of Edinburgh's Award. This support will help the charity reach its target of doubling the number of young people from all backgrounds taking part in their DofE.

Teams plotted their 30 mile journey, taking in a series of challenges and an overnight camp en route to the finish. A raft building challenge on the river Ribble kicked off the event, which included archery, rock climbing, team building, and a ghyll scramble.

This challenge is not meant for elite athletes, but is within the grasp of anyone with a reasonable fitness level. As well as raising vital funds for a fantastic cause, participating businesses develop team, communication and forward planning skills to overcome the challenges of the weekend. The emphasis is on fun, teamwork and personal development; all values in line with both the ethos of Peak Pursuits and The DofE.

Event organiser, Ian Slade commented, "After the success of the 2010 event in the Peak District, we were delighted to organise the 2011 challenge in the Yorkshire Dales. Well done to everyone who was involved and to all the participants. Congratulations to Handpicked Hotels on retaining their crown!"

Photographs of the event can be seen on the Peak Pursuits Facebook Page.
