Conveniently run over 4 weekends and located in the heart of the beautiful Peak District, it is easily accessible from all over the UK. Candidates gain knowledge and experience from classroom and practical sessions covering both the hard and soft skills of leading in the outdoors.

Weekend 1
The first weekend will focus on all the hard skills including but not limited to the following:
Navigation, Tents / Camping, Stoves, Food for Expeditions, First aid, Route Planning
Based at The Old School House, Brandside near Buxton, you will start at 9am on Saturday morning with camping at the adjacent campsite.
Weekend 2
The second weekend will focus on soft skills including but not limited to the following topics: Conservation and Access, Leadership, Child Protection, Paperwork & Activity Approval, Planning
Friday night is a candidate presentation with the weekend training based at Wetton Village Hall and static camping in the Peak District.
Weekend 3
You will undertake a 2 day expedition back packing in the White Peak using lightweight equipment. The focus will be on practical group leadership and navigational skills. The location is to be confirmed.
Following completion of the 3 training weekends all candidates are required to complete a min 30 hours of practical experience prior to attending the assessment weekend. Full details of this will be provided during the training weekends.
Weekend 4The final assessment weekend will take place in the Peak District and will take the form of a two day expedition starting on the Friday night. The programme includes a walking talk with enhancement of navigation, self sufficiency, group leadership and teamwork skills. The expedition will be followed by a debriefing of the final weekend and entire course. A range of dates will be available starting from early 2011.
