DofE Expedition Leaders - FreelanceLocation:  UK-wide

Peak Pursuits is looking forward to recruiting freelance Expedition Leaders for the 2010 season to work in our DofE team.Peak Pursuits provides DofE Expeditions and Training to over 40 schools and youth groups around the country, delivering expeditions at all levels of the Award. In addition, we are also The Commercial Supplier of Expeditions to the DofE Award in Business programme. Through this programme, we work with apprentices and management trainees of blue-chip companies, taking them through their Gold Expedition as part of their Leadership training. There are opportunities for Expedition Leaders to work anywhere in the UK, from the South East corner of England through to the wilderness of the remote Scottish countryside.

Successful applicants must have:·        
An outgoing, friendly and professional approach to work       
Excellent customer service and communication skills        
Ability to deliver training in a classroom environment and to interact with young people        
Ability to supervise and lead groups of young people in an expedition environment, and to ensure their safety in a variety of situations, including poor weather or visibility.
Initiative and ability to work within a team
Be flexible in order to meet the demands of our assignments calendar. This will include working evenings, weekends, and bank holidays when required. The job will also include overnight residential and camping stays.
A personal passion for working in the outdoors and hillwalking
Current knowledge and experience of delivering DofE expeditions, including an up-to-date knowledge of the requirements of the expedition section and the 20 assessment criteria.
A valid First Aid Certificate (minimum 16-hour “expedition” qualification)

At least one of the following qualifications:
- MLTB Summer Mountain Leader Award
- Walking Group Leader Award
- Basic Expedition Leader (BEL)

Current full driving licence, and access to own transport

Desirable
Current PCV license or D1 endorsement.
Expedition Assessor Accreditation

The job is also subject to an enhanced CRB disclosure.Successful applicants will be invited to an Induction course prior to being engaged as a Freelance Expedition Leader.
