This residential is a fantastic 5 day adventure for 13-18 year olds. The principality of Asturias in Northern Spain is little known to people in the UK and offers a unique outdoor activity and cultural experience.
Based within the beautiful Trubia Valley, rock climbing, canoeing, cycling and walking are all within 30 minutes of your accommodation. This trip encompasses more than just outdoor pursuits. It offers an experience of great educational value by incorporating cultural elements like music, food, language and history. Participants are also brought into contact with conservation issues and the importance of the natural environment. The Trubia Valley hosts a bear sanctuary where efforts are being made to save the endangered Brown Bear in Northern Spain.
Typical Itinerary
Day One – Arrival and Teambuilding
Your party will fly into Asturias during late afternoon where you will be welcomed and transferred by coach to your accommodation in the Trubia Valley. This journey is about one hour duration. Upon arrival at your accommodation the rules, boundaries and plans for the week are established. After dinner you will enjoy an evening of teambuilding activities.
Day Two – Cycling and Asturian Music and Dance Session
Following breakfast you will spend the day cycling on the “Route of the Bear” between Quiros and Proaza with lunch en route. Free time will be available on returning to the accommodation and after dinner the activity will be a traditional Asturian music session.
Day Three - Canoeing
Enjoy a full day canoeing on one of the beautiful lakes in the region. Lunch will be at the lake and free time is available on returning to the accommodation.
Day Four – Rock Climbing and Visit to Oviedo
After breakfast you will be transported to a nearby rock face to enjoy a day climbing. Free time is available on returning to the accommodation. In the evening you will visit Oviedo, the capital of the region, for sightseeing, shopping and a traditional Asturian meal in a typical Asturian restaurant.
Day Five – Walk and Departure
After you have eaten breakfast and packed you will go for a walk in the Trubia Valley during the morning. There are a number of rewarding routes and depending on the ability of the group and the conditions you may ascend one of the local peaks to take in the spectacular views. We will then transfer you to the airport for your flight home in the afternoon.
