Peak Pursuits offer
this unique residential aimed at groups
of young people aged 13-18.
Your group will fly
to Asturias in Northern Spain before transferring
to the Trubia Valley.
Over the next five days you will go cycling,
rockclimbing, teambuilding, walking, canoeing
and sample the local cuisine and enjoy
traditional music sessions. One of the mountain sides within the Trubia Valley has become a sanctuary for bears and they can be viewed during feeding time. Shopping and
sight seeing are also available in the
historic town of Oviedo. The capital of the region dates back to 765 AD and has a population of approximately 205,000.
Almost a third of Asturias
has been made an area of Protected Natural
Space. It sits on the north west of Spain
with the Bay of Biscay to the north and
the majestic Picos de Europa to the south.
Mountain goats, buzzards and vultures are just some of the creatures you will witness during your visit. It is a principality of rich natural and
cultural heritage.
Historically, Asturias
was the only part of Spain not to be conquered
by the Moors due to its rugged terrain.
This region invites a very different experience
to the one associated with the south of
the country.
As you would expect
from a mountainous region next to the
Atlantic, the weather can be changeable
but the climate is generally mild with
warm summers and rainy winters.
