Don't miss this chance
to take part in a unique event and welcome
in the New Year in Madrid.
San Silvestre is a 10
km race through the centre of the Spanish
capital Madrid and has taken place every
New Year's Eve for almost half a century.
The route is primarily
downhill with approximately half a kilometre
uphill, delivering a fast route for the
racers and a leisurely run for the casual
runner. You will follow the famous 'Paseo
de la Castellana" over bridges passing
through the historical province of Madrid,
with the finish at 'La Meta' located within
the district of Vallecas.
Race participants can
top 10,000, with a similar number of spectators
lining the course creating the electrifying
atmosphere of a marathon. The race is
split into two levels. The 'La Popular'
race commences one hour prior to the professional
event with some runners driving the party
atmosphere competing in costumes as the
crowd enjoys spraying runners with silly
string and cream as they pass. The professional
race is for those who feel really feel
fit - to enter this race you must be able
to complete the 10 km inside 40 minutes.
