The cultural phenomenon of “graffiti art” has exploded globally since its conception in the early 1970's in New York .
Nowadays it has become part of popular culture through hip-hop music and even mainstream advertising. As a medium closely associated with youth culture it is an ideal means of engagement with young people.
The graffiti artist or “writer” will teach various spray techniques and stencilling to create murals that explore issues and scenarios of importance.
These sessions can be delivered to either an individual or a group. This form of visual communication is a fun means of expression. The creative process and the development of the artwork provide a focal point for articulating the issues within the piece or pieces.
Working towards the end goal of the finished mural is a creative journey involving co-operation, skills development, self expression and perseverance within a fun environment.
