About The Duke of Edinburgh's Award
DofE is open to young people of ages 14 to 25 and offers three levels for them to work through - Bronze, Silver and Gold.
Each level has four specific sections Volunteering, Physical, Skills, Expedition and at the Gold level participants are also required to complete a residential project.
Volunteering
To inspire young people to make a difference within their communities or to an individual’s life and develop compassion by giving service to others.
Physical
To inspire young people to achieve greater physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle through participation and improvement in a physical activity.
Skills
To inspire young people to develop practical and social skills and personal interests.
Expedition
To inspire young people to develop initiative and a spirit of adventure and discovery, by planning, training for and completing an adventurous journey as part of a team. Click on the link below to see what Peak Pursuits offer to support your expedition.
Residential (Gold level only)
To inspire participants through a concentrated involvement with people they don’t know, who are usually from different backgrounds, and bring alternative views to the challenges they will face. The Residential section broadens their experiences by empowering them to make a difference in a team-based residential setting.
The DofE have developed a set of guiding principles which are the heart of all our programmes:
Non-competitve - Achievable by all - Voluntary - Personal development - Personalised - Balanced - Progressive - Achievement focused - Demand commitment - Enjoyable
