Easter falls very early this year and is just a matter of weeks away, which means your kids will be off school for a couple of weeks and, hopefully, the weather in the UK will have warmed up enough that you’re all up for spending time in the great outdoors.

By now we all know that spending time outside is good for us in a number of ways. Aside from the fact that it’s great to be physically active, there’s a lot of research to support the mental health benefits of getting into the countryside too.

Shout Out UK recently pointed out that many of your most treasured memories are formed when you’re outside. Connecting with nature and spending time with people you care about are all part of this process.

Taking your children to do outdoor activities is therefore a great way to get them moving, get some fresh air and to make some wonderful memories as a family.

There are a host of outdoor activities to try in Cheshire, including climbing, abseiling, kayaking, sailing, stand up paddleboarding and orienteering to name just a few.

Sessions such as shelter building, survival skills and fire building can be great fun to do as a family – not to mention give you some useful skills for your next camping trip.

If you don’t get round to organising anything for Easter, you can always come and visit our Astbury Watersports Centre at the end of April for our open day. This is a great opportunity to find out more about the varied activities we offer and how you can get started in a range of new sports.

Come along on 28 April and try out the likes of zorbing, climbing, archery and bushcraft. You never know, you and your kids might find a new passion.
